CHANNELLOCK - NOT THE EASY WAY, BUT THE RIGHT WAY
The CHANNELLOCK® company was started over 138 years ago by George B. DeArment, a blacksmith from Evansburg, Pa., USA who began hand-forging farrier's tools in a small factory. And to this day this family-ran business is still going from strength to strength!
The company, now employing 350 staff from their two Meadville sites covering 260,000 square feet. was founded on four guiding principles which still serve well over the ensuing years and to this day:
Good management is never far from the factory floor
People are more important than machines
Bigger doesn't always mean better
Dedication to excellence is the surest way to surmount adversity and to prosper
Today, CHANNELLOCK®, Inc. is run by the fifth generation of the DeArment family, Jonathan S. DeArment who has ran the business for the last decade. The company manufactures more than 75 different sizes and types of pliers and hand tools. CHANNELLOCK® has stood the test of time by making tools which do the same. Even after more than 138 years, it all comes back to Crawford County, PA. From steel to store, every Channellock starts with high-carbon North American 1090 steel before it becomes a blue-handled masterpiece in a toolbox.
Every detail commands attention so every pair of pliers they put our name on doesn’t just finish the job, but defeats it — plain and simple. Hard work is in our genes, producing what our customers want.
